Tip 2: Invite Guests

25/07/2016 - 11:43

Have you been selected as a Host? Then it's time to invite at least 10 Guests!

  • Create a guest list: Invite those who are really interested.
  • Check out who this Home Party is suitable for: Is it for adults or children? It is primarily intended for foodies? Would it suit your sports friends or do you know some movie fans?
  • Use your personal Home Party page for pre-Party Buzz: This is your own page on which you can blog, send invitations, share preparations, post updates, share photos, etc. with your Guests. They can in their turn come here to confirm their attendance and post comments.
  • Check whether there is an age limit: Home Parties with alcohol or adult content are of course intended for invitees who are at least 18 years of age.
  • Invite extra people: Some people may not be able to come, others will cancel. Without 10 confirmed Guests your Home Party cannot proceed, so feel free to send out anywhere between five and ten additional invitations.

Tip 3: Choose your theme

25/07/2016 - 11:42

We have worked with our sponsors to provide a fun Party Pack. and now it is up to you to dress it up nicely, e.g. with a theme!

  • Era: The 1920s, 90s, Flower Power, Disco, Rockabilly, etc.
  • Colours & Clothing: completely white, black, silver, gold, neon, glow, formal, etc.
  • Fancy dress: Hallowe'en, Cowboys & Indians, super heroes, characters from video games, celebrities, disco, Mafia, etc.
  • Drinks: a cocktail party, beer tasting, wine tasting, beverage games (beer pong, moustache drinking game, shots…), barista demonstration, etc.
  • Food: cooking together, 'My Restaurant' or 'Come 'n eat', pizza evening, cupcake wars, baking competition, etc.

Tip 4: Plan your menu

25/07/2016 - 11:41

Have you chosen a theme? If so, then you can start to plan the menu!  Think about what you are going to serve in terms of food and drink:

  • Children's Party: Fruit juice, soft drinks, pieces of fruit, cake, cupcakes, ice creams, etc.
  • Pub or informal party: finger food, small hamburgers or hotdogs, savoury snacks, dipping sauces, beer, etc.
  • Film Night: Nachos, pizza, popcorn, soft drinks, sweets, etc.
  • Wine tasting: mezzé, tapas, canapés, sandwiches, appetisers, etc.
  • Boy's Night: barbecue, beer, crisps, pizza, etc.
  • Brunch: sandwiches, croissants, juice, tea, coffee, etc.
  • Girl's Night: cocktails, small snacks, sushi, etc.
  • Garden Party: buffet, picnic, dessert, punch, etc.
  • Coffee or tea party: biscuits, small sandwiches, cakes, fruit, etc.
  • Pot Luck: Everybody brings something.

Tip 5: Go shopping

25/07/2016 - 11:40

  • Consider your budget: providing food, drink, decorations, etc. obviously costs money. Try to use things you have at home or ask for inspiration or assistance from your Guests.  If everyone brings something along you can share any cost!
  • What do you need? Take a look at what you already have that you can use and what extra items you will need: beakers, napkins, a tablecloth, cutlery, plates, etc.
  • Decoration: you decide how far you want to go in the decoration of your Home Party. Little flags, lanterns, candles, flowers, party hats, confetti - just be creative!
